Day 8-Santa Monica, CA

Day 8: Santa Monica

Iconic sign on the Santa Monica Pier
Howdy y’all, the sleepy’s coming at you this morning from the beautiful Santa Monica with another great blog. We woke up to the loud racket of the street sweepers cleaning the trash from the parking lot and sand. We had an eventful awakening before our arrival in Santa Monica, fun fact of the day; you cannot go over 55 in California pulling a trailer. We were let off with a citation and were able to continue on our way to make it safely to the beach.

Many of us took naps on the beach while we waited for our delicious breakfast of French toast sticks, bacon, and eggs, and apple juice, made by the Bashfuls. Once we were done with breakfast, we ran out to the beach to go into the icy pacific water. We knew it wouldn’t be like the east coast, but many of us were surprised by the freezing temperature of the water. It quickly heated up and some of us decided to move to the pier while others stayed out and tanned as the hot sun came out.

As a group we decided to give the Bashful’s a break from cooking, so many of us went to eat, tacos, pizza, burgers, and dip and dots on the pier. Some also stayed on the beach to play soccer, football, and Frisbee. Some of us got a little too comfortable on the beach and stayed out long enough so that now half of our group is looking like lobsters.

Once we left the beach, we headed to Anaheim, California, which was only 45 miles away, but took us about 2 hours to get there because of the constant traffic. The drive to the campground included seeing the California coast and part of the Los Angeles skyline. Our arrival prompted the unpacking of all of our sleeping and duffel bags into a space small enough to be a bedroom. We are staying in the Anaheim RV park, and are enjoying a lifestyle of sleeping like sardines.

Camping tonight in Anaheim RV park, close to Disneyland here in California!

From then on out it was a little R&R for our group. For dinner tonight, we had hotdogs, mac and cheese, and baked beans. We even had ice cream sandwiches for dessert!

The Bloggers are signing off for tonight, miss and love everyone back home. See you tomorrow to tell you all about DISNEYLAND!!
