Day 7- Las Vegas

Day 7: VEGAS BABY

Sorry for the delay in the blog! We have been having internet issues. Thank you for your patience :)

What’s up America!!! It’s the sleepy group coming at y’all live from Las Vegas, Nevada. Our group consists of the lovely and talented: Audrey Frye, Henry Harris Taylor, Abigail Gibson, Mady Thomas, Cullen Hensley, Savannah Wise, Payton Gillespie, Morgan Peace, Abbey Saxton, Hiley Smith, Caroline Hegwer, Anna Wiltshire, Gabe Jeffers, and Haven Ballard, and we will be your bloggers for the next few days.

This morning, we got to sleep in (something the sleepy’s deeply cherish). It’s funny that waking up at 7 feels like sleeping in now. We awoke in the Grand Canyon sore from our previous hiking adventures to a gourmet breakfast of pancakes, hashbrowns, watermelon and sunny-d made by the Grumpies. We took our time getting ready for the night ahead of us in Vegas, we could barely recognize each other with our hair and makeup done. We got some fun warnings from V before we departed for Vegas. Fun fact… prostitution is legal in Nevada!

On our way to Vegas, we sat with our groups to prepare for our next competition, at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, the Vegas chant. All the teams put forth their best efforts, and even though Sleepy’s won in our hearts, the Happy’s took the win with a fresh prince of Bel-Air spin-off.  Research on Nevada was presented by our very own, Cullen Hensley, and Emma Pickard told us some great facts about Las Vegas. After we were done, it was time to go explore the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas.

Our first stop in the city was Caesar’s Palace for a group picture. It was definitely interesting herding our group of over 80 across the crosswalks in Vegas. We were overwhelmed with all the twists and turns in Caesar’s Palace, and some of us had a hard time escaping the maze. We were then allowed free time to explore the city. Most groups ended up on a search for food that did not consist of a pb&j. Some stayed in the palace for easy access to food, while others ventured out to places such as Margaritaville, In-and-Out, and Hells Kitchen.

After filling up on good food, many of us witnessed the world famous Bellagio water show. The same song is never played twice, and they must have known that TWB was there, because many of us watched the show to the tune “God Bless the USA.” It was a perfect ending to the perfect night, and we made our way back to the bus to an overnight drive to awake in the beautiful beach city of Santa Monica.
